Ministry Assessment
Measuring your impact is an essential part of maintaining ministry health. God is continually presenting new opportunities to discover important truths about our ministries. Just like with personal assessment, obtaining feedback from several sources is best.
Method |
Reflecting on Personal Experience — A careful, honest examination of past and present experience will usually yield important insights into what is and isn’t working. |
Feedback from Others — Experienced ministry leaders, mentors, consultants, and others see things you miss. Sometimes, the most helpful insights come from people who have no ministry experience or training, but who are able to apply their unique knowledge and skills in ways that provide very valuable feedback. |
Formal Evaluation — Gathering important information through an ongoing, systematic, process of evaluation can pinpoint important aspects of ministry performance. Effective monitoring and evaluation provides useful feedback and shows your commitment to excellence. |
The ministry baseline assessment exercise included in this Pre-Assignment will help you to begin to think about several key dimensions of ministry performance (covered in more detail at the workshop). Your ongoing assessment of these dimensions will help you to develop a clear profile of your ministry’s most important strengths and weaknesses. Be honest when going through the baseline assessment exercise. You are in this program in part because you have shown significant potential for effective ministry!
At the workshop, you will learn more about ministry assessment and how you can gather important information on an ongoing basis, so that you can continually know about the health of your ministry. This feedback will help you identify opportunities for ministry breakthrough and also pinpoint key areas for improvement.
Note that the exercise you will be doing is just a baseline assessment, reflecting on your personal experience. Do not spend time collecting detailed information about your ministry at this point. Before you begin the baseline assessment, let’s examine a few indicators of ministry health.\
