AGORA Weekly Update October 6th 2015

The other day one of my kids opened our pantry looked up and down and said, “There is nothing to eat.” I replied, “You mean you don’t see anything you like, because there is plenty of food.” While this exchange is very common among families everywhere, what is not as common is what many of our families and children at AGORA go through. For some at AGORA it is not a lack of choice but the complete absence of food.

In most cases families do without a meal, hear and there, nourished but not every day. However, I have walked into homes where families have nothing in their pantry, NOTHING. They have barren refrigerators and have missed many meals. In either case, we are called to share the love of Christ by meeting this need.

I use the word WE because, yes, you are called too! Please consider getting involved. We are looking for people that are committed to serving the Lord and helping us feed the families of the Westside. Join us in being light to the world!

Needs:
FOOD PICKUP: 2-3 volunteers to meet at Daily Bread Ministries (Rittiman Rd.) to help pack food and load the trailer. Arrival at 6:30am

FOOD DROP-OFF: 2 -3 volunteers to help unload the food at AGORA. 8-9am (can be the same people that load up)

FOOD PREP: bring or prepare food for fellowship with our families. Bring or prepare food like tacos, donuts, light breakfast/ lunch. 10:00am

FOOD AND TOILETRIES: we are in need of canned goods (no boxed, bagged or dry goods at this time due to storage); personal hygiene products; diapers of all sizes.

RELATIONSHIP BUILDERS: Spend time and visit with our families. Help us create a friendly, compassionate, and gracious environment to make relationships.
