Instructions
Today is the day that Jesus rose from the dead! Halleluiah! As we spend time together with our families it’s also a great time to reflect on Jesus’ life, His journey, and the sacrifice that He made for all of us.
We put together a Scavenger Hunt for your family to complete together. You will be given a Bible verse and an item that symbolizes what the verse means. Then you will go around your house or outside to collect these items.
Item #1: Palm Leaf
Go around your yard and find some leaves. Then cut the leaf to resemble a palm branch.
“They took palm branches and went out to meet Jesus, shouting, ‘Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’” John 12:12-16-
Item #2: 30 Silver Coins
Find 3 silver coins (nickels, dimes, or quarters)
Matthew 26:14-16-“And Judas asked, ‘How much will you pay me to betray Jesus to you?’ and they gave him 30 pieces of silver.”
Item #3: Cup & Bread
Find a cup and break off a small piece of bread.
“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, ‘Take, eat; this is my body.’ Then He took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to the them saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you.’” Matthew 26:26-28
Item #4: Garden
Find a flower.
“They went to a place called Gathsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Sit here while I pray.’ He took Peter, James, and John along with him and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. ‘My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death, stay here and keep watch.’” Mark 14: 32-34
Item #5: Rope
Go around your house and find any type of string or rope.
Matthew 26:48-50-“Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: ‘The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.’ Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, ‘Greetings, Rabbi!’ and kissed Jesus. Jesus replied, ‘Do what you came for friend.” Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus, and arrested Him.
Item #6: Crown of Thorns
Very carefully grab a pair of scissors and go outside to find a thorn on a bush to cut it off (please let you parents help you with this).
“When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’” Matthew 27:29
Item #7: Nails
Go around the house and find 3 nails.
“So they took Jesus and he went out, bearing his own cross to the place called the place of a skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. There they nailed Jesus to the cross.” John 19:16-18
Item # 8: Dice
Find a dice.
“Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet.” Matthew 27:35
Item #9: Spear
Find a toothpick or stick and color red at the tip with either nail polish or marker.
“But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear and immediately blood and water came out.” John 19:34
Item #10: Linen
Find a towel or blanket.
“When Joseph has taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb and departed.” Matthew 27:59
Item #11: Stone
Find a rock.
“And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightening, and his clothing white as snow. Ad for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.” Matthew 28:2-4
Item #12: Empty Egg
Look in the bag of eggs that were given to you. Find the egg with nothing in it.
“But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen as he said. Come, see the place where he lay:” Matthew 28:5-6
