The summer internship

A summer that will challenge you to be part of God’s plan in missions.

We’re so excited you’re considering being part of our summer internship program! AGORA Ministries exists to share the love and hope of Christ in high-need areas — encouraging, empowering, educating, and mentoring “at risk” students and families in our area. As an intern you’ll train to run a team on a summer missions trip: facilitating camps, preparing for events, leading kids ministry, homeless and compassion ministries, creative arts programs, serve projects, and sharing the gospel with those in need.

01

Serve

Salvation is an act of grace — but if our hearts are given to Christ, if the Spirit of God is in us, we must serve like Jesus did. The internship has many components of serving throughout, following the lead of our Lord Jesus.

“The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.”Mark 10:45

02

Share

The world needs to know our Lord Jesus. You’ll be part of the day-to-day ministries of AGORA, share your testimony, teach what you’ve learned, and be challenged to share the gospel corporately and personally.

“How can they hear without someone to preach to them?”Romans 10:14

03

Grow

A disciple of Jesus should never stay the same. Through Scripture, prayer, and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, you’ll be challenged to read, learn, pray, ask, seek, and knock — so you may know our Lord Jesus more.

“Sanctification” means to be made holy — the work of the Holy Spirit.Romans 15:14–21

Program structure

You’ll be part of every piece of the summer.

The goal of the summer internship is to personally challenge you to be part of God’s plan in missions and to experience leading teams — while being challenged to hear God’s voice in your life.

Street Camp Training

One week of training before camps begin. The first camp is learning and watching — as the summer goes on, interns take over more and more of the leadership.

Hands-On Serving

All believers are called to be servants. You’ll be put in places to serve the needs of others — in poor communities, meeting physical, spiritual, and food needs.

Small Groups

Meet weekly in smaller groups to discuss what you’re learning during your internship — and simply hang out with one another.

One-on-Ones

Each intern has designated one-on-one time with an AGORA staff member who checks in on how you are, your life, and what you’re learning.

Weekly ministries

Where you’ll serve through the summer.

From time to time interns serve in each of the ministries below — real front-line ministry, every week.

Hope Pantry

Our bi-monthly relationship-based food distribution — every 2nd and 4th Wednesday. We share a meal, message, and prayer, organize the food, pray with each guest, and pass out the food together.

Revolution Youth

Our weekly junior high and high school ministry. Every Thursday night we sing, play games, and teach teenagers about the gospel in a fun, encouraging, safe environment.

AGORA Kids

Two Saturdays a month: outreach events in local housing projects — Alazan/Apache Courts, Villa Veramendi, or the Cassiano homes. The other two: investing in our Core Kids with songs, games, food, and life-relevant lessons.

Women’s Ministry

Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday throughout the school year — building deep relationships with women in the community and studying God’s word together.

Street Camps

Hosting teams for short-term outreaches where they SERVE, SHARE, and GROW — week-long trips in spring and summer, weekend teams in fall and spring, and Saturday day-outreaches.

Summer Education Programs

The Westside is known for some of the highest dropout rates in the city. Education and tutoring bring long-term success for our students — and open the door to discipleship relationships.
